An Exciting New Term
In March the groups started rehearsals for their projects before the summer and so these shows are really starting to take shape. The Seniors show: Circus of Terror, is fast approaching and the show is looking fantastic. It is a devised piece and has turned into a real physical theatre piece with a whole lot of mask work thrown in there too. Tickets are on sale so make sure to book yours as soon as you can to avoid missing out. There are a couple of pictures on the home page and on the cover of this blog to give you a little taste of what to look forward to.
The Juniors are really working hard (Though need a little pushing on line learning!) on their Christmas show, the world premier of: A Pirate's Christmas Wish by M. J. McMahon. We have just had a meeting and can now confirm that the show will be taking place in St Peter's Church itself. This is a really exciting development as it will be such an incredible venue with a much larger capacity than before and will really lend a lot of atmosphere to the production. The people we are working with at the church are really keen to make this a wonderful experience for the audience and cast alike.
The productions and casting for the Ely groups have just been announced and the groups seem to be very excited about them. The Juniors are taking on Andy Ashleigh's play Body Talk. It is a multimedia look at the 'bods' that control our bodies. (Imagine a starship with the crew on the bridge.) We meet the bods in a little boy called Mudge, the bods in a little girl called Tidge and a host of germs and other characters as well as seeing through the kids eyes with some pre-recorded film elements. It is going to be an exciting project that is going to be such a lot of fun to work on.
The Seniors got their show and casting this week too, they will be performing a fantastic show called Find Me by Olwen Whymark. It is the true story of a girl named Verity Taylor who had various behaviour problems which no one really knew how to cope with. It is a very challenging piece of theatre which will really push the kids talents. I have been involved in this show a few times and it really holds a special place in my heart and I cant wait to direct the really talented Ely Seniors in this great show.
